This neat little pickup could make a fun hauler or restoration project. It is a runner but it will need lots of TLC.
The truck’s body is fairly straight and free of major dents. There is some rust starting to form here and there but the floors and step plates are still fairly solid. Most of the rust is around the roof seams and drip rails. Please view the numerous pictures we have provided to get a better idea of the affected areas. The bed floor is surprisingly straight and not beat up like most trucks.
The original 292ci Y-Block V8 fires right up and idles smooth. The truck runs well and it does not miss or smoke. The carburetor was just rebuilt and a new fuel filter was installed. Also new spark plugs, oil, and filter have been installed.
The trucks transmission shifts through all of its gears. It does have a whine to it and if not shifted gently it tends to grind some (typical of these trucks). There is a new clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder, and hydraulic line installed.
The brakes are currently in good working order but the parking brake does not work.
The truck handles OK, the steering is tight but the front end wobbles at higher speeds. The front end probably needs kingpins and/or tie rods. It seems to drive OK around town but for freeway speeds it needs to be looked at.
The bench seat has new upholstery and padding. The rest of the interior is metal except the old cardboard headliner. The original dash is uncut. An older aftermarket stereo is in place and the radio with a single dash speaker is in working order. The heater is in working condition, the windshield wipers do not currently work.
The truck’s windshield is free of cracks or chips. Both of the door windows roll up and down OK, the driver’s side is good the passenger’s side is cracked.
15 inch steel wheels are at all four corners. The skinny white wall tires are in good condition and appear to have almost no miles on them.
The truck has its original matching black and yellow, Folsom State Prison made, commercial license plates.
A clear California title is on hand and the truck is free of liens or back fees.
Overall; this could make a fun driver-project. It needs lots of work but runs and drives so you can fix it up as you go.
